Historical highlights
1994
Iren Dornier, Nikos Gitsis, and Tomas Lopez came up with the idea of launching SEAIR to provide for safe, reliable, and economical air transportation to serve the Philippines, which was then undergoing industry deregulation and expansion in tourism.
1995
The company was set up and registered with Clark Special Economic Zone. Using 3 Dornier 28 aircraft which were flown in from Germany, SEAIR opened revenue flights to Boracay, and Northern Palawan, serving Rodriguez, Coron, and Busuanga.
1996-2002
The company introduced a larger aircraft, the LET410 UVP-E aircraft for commercial service. SEAIR’s successful partnership with resorts in Palawan and in Boracay, and the aircraft’s unique capabilities prove an instant success. Since then the company embarked on a nationwide expansion by opening up and inter-connecting all the regions of the Philippines on a regular flight basis. Initially from inter-Palawan flights using Puerto Princesa as a hub then, SEAIR opened a station in Cebu to connect to far flung areas such as the surfing capital Siargao, and Camiguin, and SEAIR was the first airline to fly Cebu- Boracay (Caticlan).
Shortly thereafter, SEAIR proudly opened up Mindanao based flights from amboanga connecting Jolo, Tawi-Tawi and Cotabato, at a time when other airlines abandoned this area.
SEAIR launched Inflight Magazine, its official on board magazine.
2003
SEAIR added its 9th LET aircraft to its fleet, servicing over 23 sectors. SEAIR is certified ISO 9001:2000 compliant for quality management systems.
SEAIR was awarded top domestic airline of the Year for the second year. SEAIR was awarded BIMP-EAGA Carrier status (Brunei Indonesia Malaysia Philippines – Growth Area).
2004
SEAIR rolled out its new aircraft, the Dornier 24ATT, an amphibian aircraft that can land and takeoff on both land and water. This is the only remaining Dornier amphibian in commercial operation in the world. The Dornier 24 ATT is currently on a World Tour to over 50 countries to promote Philippine tourism while raising funds for UNICEF.
2005
SEAIR introduces the most up-to-date, state-of-the-art aircraft in service of its type in the market. The advanced Dornier 328 is among the latest in a long line of technologically innovative aircraft from the pioneering German aircraft manufacturer. The Do 328 allows us to offer you the fastest flights from Manila to Boracay, with 35 minutes flying time. The addition of the Do 328 to our fleet solidifies our position as operating the youngest fleet of aircraft in our segment of the industry.
