Brussels

Brussels hosts several international organizations: most of the European institutions are located here as well as the NATO headquarters. That’s why often referred to as The Capital of Europe. It is the city of the European Union (EU) and the largest urban area in Belgium. Brussels also hosts over 80 museums, numerous tourist attractions, a vibrant nightlife, and more restaurants than you could count. Brussels has been given its character by the coexistence of French and Flemish culture, and it is nowadays home to nationalities around the world. We can find here picturesque medieval streets, impressive monuments, spacious parks, cafés, interesting restaurants and an active cultural life.

Antwerp

Antwerp has long been an important city in the nations of the Benelux both economically and culturally. It is located on the right bank of the river Scheldt, which is linked to the North Sea by the estuary Westerschelde. Antwerp is the city of architecture, fashionable shops, beer-washed pubs, dazzling monuments, jazzed-up clubs, inspired artworks and restaurant tables piled with plates of superb Belgian and multicultural food. The city has a wealth of outstanding museums, picturesque galleries, sculpted streets and beautiful architecture.

Ghent

Ghent is the fourth largest city of Belgium The city started as a settlement at the confluence of the Rivers Scheldt and Lys and became one of the largest and richest cities of northern Europe. Every year a ten day long street festival is held called the "Ghent Fests". About 2 million visitors attend the festival every year. In the city we can find many sacral buildings. Interesting highlights are the Saint Bavo Cathedral with the Ghent Altarpiece, the belfry, the Gravensteen castle, and the splendid architecture along the old Graslei harbour. Important museums in Ghent are the Museum voor Schone Kunsten (Museum of Fine Arts)or Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst (City Museum for Contemporary Art), with works of the 20th century.

Liege

The city is situated in the valley of the river Meuse, near Belgium's eastern borders with the Netherlands and Germany. The city is well-known for its very crowded folk festivals. The 15 August festival ("Le 15 août") is maybe the best known. The city every year hosts a significant jazz festival Jazz à Liège.

Bruges

The historic city centre is a prominent World Heritage Site of UNESCO. Bruges is called: 'the Venice of the North'. Bruges is unique, in the sense that here the town authorities have done the utmost to preserve the medieval-looking image of the city. This splendid medieval city is one of Belgium's crown jewels.
