Famous Guests

In the last 200 years there was hardly a famous visitor to the city, who wouldn’t come to the world famous hotel. Some of the honored guests of the 18th century were, for example: musical composer Johann Sebastian Bach; Russian Tsar Peter the Great; founder of the modern balneology Dr. David Becher; Prussian King Friedrich I.; philosopher, scholar and statesman Gottfried Wilhelm Leibnitz, field marshal Gideon Erns Laudon or Austrian Empress Marie Teresie of the Habsburgs.

The hotel was very sought after for its serenity; other musical geniuses came to stay in this inspirational atmosphere, such as for example the famous opera composers Richard Wagner, Antonín Dvořák or Ferenc Liszt. The famous United German chancellor Otto von Bismark also spent one night here. But we shall return to the present. The most famous guests of the “GRANDHOTEL PUPP” are made up of traditional celebrities of the political and movie arena. Our visitors come not only from the Czech Republic, but traditionally from all over Europe and lately as far as Asia or across the ocean. A visitor has a fair chance of meeting a movie celebrity, such as the American actress Whoopi Goldberg, actor Gregory Peck, Alan Alda or Michael Douglas or the attractive Italian actress Ornela Muti. Individuals from political world who have stayed here are President Václav Havel, Spanish King Juan Carlos, Norwegian King Harald and many others, however, full listing would truly exceed our possibilities.

One thing is certain. When walking up the stairways and the soft carpets of the “GRANDHOTEL PUPP”, we can actually claim having walked in the steps of history. Or at least in the steps of those, who created the history and on whom the history depended. We hope that the “GRANDHOTEL PUPP” will see some more of these steps.
